About Kyriaki

My name is Kyriaki. In Greek, my name comes from Kyrios, meaning “the Lord”, or God, and Kyriaki is the name given to Sunday, traditionally the Lord’s day.

This connection between my name, the Divine and the sun became part of the inspiration behind Golden Sun Yoga.

Across cultures and spiritual traditions, the sun has carried a meaning far greater than the celestial body we see in the sky. As the source of light, warmth and life, it has long symbolized the Divine, consciousness, illumination and awakening.

The sun continues to shine even when clouds prevent us from seeing it. In the same way, beneath our thoughts, fears, conditioning and the many layers accumulated through life, our true nature remains.

Our inner light.

Our consciousness.

The deeper essence of who we are.

The spiritual path is a journey inward, towards discovering our true selves. As the mind becomes quieter, we begin to see beyond our fears and conditioning and remember who we truly are.

Spiritual awakening is not about becoming someone greater. It is about remembering our true nature, the awareness behind our thoughts, emotions and experiences, and learning to live from that understanding.

The word Golden carries another meaning. It is inspired by the ancient idea of the Golden Age, an age associated with greater harmony, wisdom and consciousness. Rather than seeing this only as something humanity may aspire towards collectively, I also see the possibility of such a transformation beginning within each of us.

This is the meaning behind Golden Sun Yoga: the sun as a symbol of divine light and consciousness, and gold as a symbol of awakening, transformation and a more conscious way of being.

My Path with Yoga

Yoga entered my life in 2010, and from the very beginning I immersed myself deeply in it.

I began studying with an Indian yoga teacher, practising hatha and kundalini yoga alongside meditation and pranayama. During those years, I maintained a daily practice and dedicated much of my time to learning alongside my teacher.

Yoga was never simply physical. From the beginning, it was a path of inner transformation and self-discovery. Yoga, meditation and breathwork transformed my life and brought profound healing, while opening a door to an inner exploration that continues today.

Alongside this path, my professional life looked very different. I spent more than a decade working in Information Technology (IT), in a world that was structured, technical and analytical.

Over the years, I studied and practised different approaches, including hatha, kundalini, Iyengar, Ashtanga, vinyasa, yin yoga and yoga nidra. I became a certified 200-hour hatha yoga teacher and continued my training in classical hatha yoga, prenatal yoga, pranayama and meditation. I have been teaching yoga since 2015 in the Netherlands and Greece.

Meditation and breathwork have been integral to my life since the beginning. My meditation experience includes kundalini meditation, Vipassana meditation in the S.N. Goenka tradition, and mindfulness meditation.

My path eventually led me to qigong and Taoist practices. At Tao Garden in Thailand, I had the opportunity to learn and practise with Grandmaster Mantak Chia and Senior Tao Teacher and Distance Energy Healer Han Serhan Keser, with whom I continue to study, further expanding my understanding of breath, movement and inner awareness.

Where My Practice Is Today

After years of experiencing both structured and dynamic forms of yoga, I find myself increasingly drawn towards gentleness, conscious breathing, stillness and deep relaxation.

I am particularly interested in the way yoga, breathwork and meditation can support nervous-system regulation while creating the conditions for greater presence and inner connection.

Regulation creates space for stillness.

Stillness creates space for awareness.

And awareness brings us closer to recognizing who we truly are.

This lies at the heart of Golden Sun Yoga.

My sessions may combine gentle yoga and mindful movement, yin yoga, breathwork, meditation and deep relaxation practices such as yoga nidra. Rather than focusing on performance or pushing the body towards a particular shape, the practice offers space to slow down, regulate the nervous system and turn inward.

To breathe.

To feel.

To become still enough to listen.

To rest.

To reconnect.

Golden Sun Yoga is primarily a space for women who are tired of pressure, expectations, performance and constant doing. A space to slow down and breathe. To allow the nervous system to settle and reconnect with the body. To find stillness, look within and remember who we truly are.
