Conscious Breathing Sessions

Breath is more than something that keeps the body alive.

It is a meeting point between body, mind and our inner state.

In the yogic tradition, conscious breathing and pranayama are ways of working with prana, the vital life force, while preparing the mind for greater concentration, meditation and stillness.

Taoist practices also give special importance to breath and qi, using conscious breathing as part of cultivating balance, presence and a deeper relationship with the body.

Breath is also central to Buddhist meditation. In the practice of mindfulness of breathing, the breath itself becomes the object of awareness. We follow it, feel it and remain present with it, allowing attention to become more steady and the mind more collected.

In these sessions, we work with those approaches.

At times, we simply observe the natural breath as it is, following its movement without changing it. At other times, we consciously guide the breath, usually in a slow and gentle way, changing its rhythm, depth or length with awareness.

Both can become forms of meditation.

Meditation does not always mean sitting still and watching thoughts. When attention is continuously placed on the breath — whether we are observing it naturally, lengthening it gently, breathing rhythmically or using humming — the breath itself becomes the meditation.

We also work with pranayama, humming breath and other conscious breathing techniques. Humming combines breath, sound, vibration and focused attention, creating a meditative practice in which the mind is gathered around a direct physical experience rather than around thought.

As we become more attentive to the breath, we begin to notice how closely it reflects our inner state. The way we breathe changes with tension, emotion, movement and thought. In the same way, working consciously with the breath can influence how we experience the body and mind.

The breath becomes a bridge between activity and stillness, body and mind, the outer experience and the inner one.

Conscious breathing is not about forcing the breath or trying to create a particular experience. It is about developing sensitivity, awareness and a more conscious relationship with something that is already with us every moment.

By following the breath more deeply, we are not simply learning how to breathe.

We are learning how to listen.

Who Is It For

Conscious Breathing Sessions are open to adults of different ages and levels of experience.

You do not need previous experience with yoga, pranayama, breathwork or meditation.

The sessions are suitable for people who want to slow down, develop greater body awareness, explore meditation through the breath, experience more inner stillness or simply learn to breathe with greater consciousness.

The practice is gentle and does not involve intense or forceful breathwork.

These sessions are not designed as medical or therapeutic treatment. If you are pregnant or have a significant cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological or other medical condition, please seek guidance from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before joining.
